Hi guys, just been on Aer Lingus website and it shows that they will start Cardiff-Dublin route from March 2009, some services will be served by an A330. Great news for Cardiff.

Hi Santos, I knew EI were from March 20 2009 starting a 4 times a week service from Dublin to Cardiff but where did you see this about the 330. Seems a bit overkill !!!!

if you check the EI website it says the flights operate for an entire 2 days, and it may indeed be a 330. Reason for the above two factors, six nations once off flight.

It could be because of the Six Nations Tournament, but it shows on the website, other flights will be served by a A320.

If you try and book it it says that the flight operates from fri 20 til Sunday 22nd and if you look at the flight numbers they are EI 2289 etc, when EI have a flight number that large it tends not to be a scheduled flight.

Below are the 6 nations fixtures for that weekend:

Saturday 21 March

Italy v France (1.15 pm)

England v Scotland (3.30 pm)

Wales v Ireland (5.30 pm)

When working in Cork three weeks past I was told by an EI employee that they would start in October four days a week Dublin - Cardiff which I thought was a very unusual time to start a new route but as you say EI-DUB in checking the EI time tables it is as you have said and the reasonf for it well you just might be right.

I am enjoying watching EI's fightback against Ryanair.

I have heard that GLA is their favoured airport but they will need to move from the old pier that the fly from now as it is the pits a real disgrace to GLA. As you know I am from the west of Scotland but right now I do like EDI as a passenger a lot better than GLA as it is a modern, bright. clean easy to get around airport. The problem is that Ryanair have a growing base at EDI as they have at PIK which in my opinion is the worst airport in the UK but it is fine for the worlds worst airline so it looks like GLA will win.
