i was just looking at some pictures and they were only in service for a short time...
what happened to them, did they go back to the lessor or were they just scrapped?
i reckon that Aeroflot could have expanded more if they carried on using them! the livery on them was amazing too!!

I believe it was withdrawn from service due to the Aeroflot accident which one of these aircraft was involved. I am not too sure of that. I also do not know whether they were returned to lessor or went on to fly with other companies. I do know that one Airbus A310 was sent to Sibir Airlines (S7) and it is registered F-OHCZ at this time.

I doubt the A310s were withdrawn because of that one accident...where the moron pilot let his 12 year old kid fly the plane! It was probably because Aeroflot decided to replace them with the longer range, more fuel-efficient B767-300s.

yes but the captain didn't know that a slight turn on the Yoke would disconnect the autopolot and make the craft fall into a nose dive....
rules where different back then

Murphy93:
I agree with Mabel. Yes, rules were diff back then but not that diff: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aeroflot_Flight_593

Regardless of how the Yoke was set-up with the autopilot, any avg-standard commercial pilot understand that U never let an unqualified person(let alone kids who don't even hv common sense) @ the control of a jet carrying revenue pax. This is a basic worldwide rule(Including SU's own rule) of flying a pax airliner and I believe, correct me if I'm wrong, has been around since the birth of commercial flying.

I remembered before that accident, I flown that route(HKG->SVO) twice on SU's 313(A310-300). In fact, I was originally booked on that SU flight scheduled to depart 2-3wks after that accident back in 93/94. After the accident, I promptly cancelled my SU flight and switched to a Euro carrier to get to Moscow fm HKG. I never fly SU again ever since.

Mabel:
U're probably right, 763ER has about 11% more range and 14% more seat capacity than the 313. SU needed a more capable twin jet to support their fast growth as the Russian economy was just @ the beginning of opening up to the world back then. In fact, the 313 is sized closer to 762. I find it hard to believe that the 313 was withdrawn fm the fleet <due to the Aeroflot accident> as the accident was clearly due to pilot/human error.

The fate to SU's 313 fleet can be found right here on this website:
